Life | February Feelings

Life | February Feelings

I think this will probably be a rambling post. But I couldn't let February sneak past me without posting anything at all. Whenever I write something here, I really enjoy it - so why don't I do it more often? After all I was supposed to pick up my game, blog a little more but this month really has just passed me by.

I guess I've been busy reading. I finished off the 'Year of Less' by Cait Flanders - which I throughly enjoyed. I then read 'My Not So Perfect Life' by Sophie Kinsella. It was a fun read - one I could relate to - life in London vs. life in the Countryside - Somerset to be precise, which is where I grew up. I'd say Sophie Kinsella's books a great easy reading/chit lit, and I think this book fell into that category too. It was just a little more relative to everyday life than perhaps some of her Shopaholic stories. (I'm not going to lie - I loved reading them, rather a few years ago now)!! I'm currently reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I know it's going to have me crying before it ends. I do like a book that makes me cry! I'm also rather intrigued to watch the film. Have any of you seen it? I've definitely started 2018 with some good books and hope to read more and more over the next few months.

To be quite honest, I've been feeling rather overwhelmed - I've got things on my mind. Things are changing - my job is coming to an end, which for me, means life. is. changing. I've been with my 'nanny family' for 7 and a half years now, which is a long old time! So I guess I'm just anxious about the change. Aren't we all? I will miss those children dearly. It's hard to see the silver linings sometimes, but it's making me cherish our time together. (When did this get so soppy)? But with that huge change, I'm beginning to find I am excited for the travel that this chapter closing will bring me. The new challenges. The new adventures.

This is why, I think, I've been escaping into books. I've been less enthusied by social media of late, ironically it's probably because of those books I've been reading! (You know the rose tinted glasses they talked about in those books, both The Year of Less & My Not So Perfect Life talk about the roles/ effects of social media in our everyday lifes). Almost to prove a point I had a little fall out with Instagram - I got cross because my hashtags didn't work. So ultimately my photo didn't get as many likes as I'd hoped for. It's so silly isn't it? It's true you know - we're all trying to paint this picture of perfect our life but behind the scenes there are things going on for all of us. Niggles, worries or more.. Is it any wonder we can't talk about Mental Health Issues in the way we should?

On the flip flipside - I do love the power of Social Media, as it's thanks to Instagram that I stumbled across Self Care Co. Self Care Co. is a Vegan + Eco  home store. Crafted with kindness. I just couldn't resist this t-shirt when I saw it. I may even post a photo of me wearing it soon, if I'm brave enough. A little more about Self Care Company - "We are very passionate about Mental Health + Wellbeing at Self Care Co, so from every purchase that is made, 10% goes into DON'T JUST STARE - A platform raising awareness of our Mental Health, through Creativity in Schools, Colleges + Universities".

I guess what I'm trying to say is that we should all take a little time out to care for ourselves. To forget about what's going on on Instagram / the likes and just enjoy the little things. And most of all Be Kind.

{EDIT} Here's that photo I was contemplating posting:

be kind

We've always needed kindness.

But we believe right now, kindness is more important than ever.

(A little quote from their website).

Until next time, Sarah ♥
